David Fuchs

David obtained his MSc in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the IMC FH Krems, Austria and his PhD from the University of Copenhagen in Pharmaceutical Sciences. His PhD project focused on the automation of a novel sample extraction method called Electromembrane Extraction and its applicability for hyphenation to mass spectrometry.

He joined the Wheelock lab in April 2017 where he is using his expertise in mass spectrometry to investigate the role of linoleic acid derived lipid mediators in respiratory diseases such as asthma and COPD. Special focus is thereby put on the development of novel enantioselective analytical methods such as chiral chromatography coupled to MS that enables the elucidation of the biosynthetic origin of the lipid mediators. His aim is to elucidate the biosynthesis and cell-specificity of linoleic acid derived lipid mediators in order to better understand the underlying mechanisms driving respiratory diseases.
